BRIGID FERNANDEZ, Elder Law Attorney
From Social Work to Law
Before earning her law degree, Brigid Fernandez obtained a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Brigid worked for nearly 20 years as a Medical Social Worker in a St. Louis area hospital and pursued a law degree to continue her advocacy for older adults and persons living with a disability or chronic illness. It is her unique combination of education and experience that makes her a strong advocate for her clients. She is familiar with how the healthcare system works and is experienced in helping clients and their families navigate the maze that is long-term care.
Brigid graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law, where she received the Academic Excellence Award in Legal Profession. She tried her first case as a third year law student. She was recognized for her commitment to public service with the 2006 Saint Louis University School of Law David Grant Student Attorney Award. Brigid is a Certified Civil Mediator and a Veterans Administration Accredited Attorney.
Brigid completed the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) examination certifying her as a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA).* Brigid has also been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.**
